What I wanted to do with MUSE is create an entertaining short film that people could relate to. From the beginning I decided that the story should be minimalist and surprising. I knew that experimenting with narrative structure was one of the main aspects behind MUSE, so my question was: Who is the creator? Is it the artist or the muse?
In asking this question, I started to find at this point a very strong premise of interest, necessary in order to progress: two writers compelled to need each other for opposing reasons; a woman who is desired by both writers.
MUSE is not a mainstream film; its cultural background is to be found in European cinema and 1900’s European literature and art. The film has potential for development in a multi screen environment and in a series.
Its themes are universal; therefore it is a film good for every audience.
